Magnificent Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, Machhapuchhere as well as various Himalayan peaks are observed unobstructed from Ghorepani Poon Hill, while the sights of sunrise is beyond the limits of words. Tourist climb to the top of Poon Hill even before dawn and the air is filled with the cacophony of noise created by the tourist speaking in myriad of tongues. But pin-drop silence sets on and all eyes focus towards the first rays of light emerging out from the east and the mountains get washed in the heavenly glitter. Poon Hill is also an excellent site to observe the diverse flora and fauna and experience the traditional culture of the hospitable Magar community. The best time to visit Poon Hill is between the autumn and spring seasons when rows of the Himalayan mountain peaks covered by a blanket of impeccable white snow could be visible to the heart’s content.
