Trip Overview

Bhairav Kunda trekking takes you to the untouched sacred pilgrimage site with pristine lakes and beautiful landscapes. It is located in the northeast of Kathmandu valley which is near to Tibetan border. Bhairv Kunda is a name of holy lake, situated at an altitude of 4,240m in Sindhupalchok district. Every year in the full moon day (August), a mass of Buddhist and Hindus devotees visit this region. The name of the lake Bhairav Kunda named after the destructive image of Lord Shiva. Beside spiritual journey, this trek offers awesome mountain views of Rolwaling range, Dorje Lakpa peak (6,966), Madiya (6,257m), Phurbi Ghhyachu (6,637m), Jugal Himal and glorious Tibetan Himalayan ranges. Moreover, you will explore the life style of nomadic people virtually unchanged by time.

Bhairav Kunda trek starts from Kathmandu about 5 hours? drive to Jalbire. And the trek begins from Jalbire following the old trade route of Nepal and Tibet. The trail goes through the beautiful green forest, villages which are inhabited by ethnic community and breathtaking mountain views.

Day 1 : Arrival in Kathmandu Airport(1360m) After your arrival at Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu, one of our office representatives will be there to welcome you with warm regards and then he will take you to the hotel through tourist vehicle. After hotel check in and some refreshment; our guide will provide you with some information regarding our trek route and destination. Then after you can have your free time. Overnight at hotel inclusive bed and breakfast.
Day 2 : Kathmandu sightseeing and preparation for the trek After having breakfast we will leave to visit some of the places in Kathmandu. We will visit bhaktapur durbar square, Kathmandu durbar square, Swyambhunath and Pashupatinath. Bhaktapur durbar square and Kathmandu durbar square are famous for ancient architect. Swyambhunath and Pashupatinath have religious values. Swyambhunath is a holy pilgrimage for Buddhist where Pashupatinath for Hindus. You can also do some shopping what we need during our trek. Then after, we will make necessary arrangements for our trek. We will stay on Kathmandu hotel that night inclusive bed and breakfast.
Day 3 : Drive to Jalbire (1,000m) - 5 Hrs Drive by bus After having breakfast we will head towards Jalbire. It is about 5 hour scenic drive from Kathmandu to Jalbire. We can have the view of mountains during our bus travel. We will head to northeast on the road to Tibet to Balephi, which is once believed to be the trade route to Tibet. The Banepali valley is just wonderful. After Banepali valley, the route becomes little dusty. Then we drive towards Jalbire for about one hour upstream. We will have our first night camp at Jalbire. It is a beautiful newar village situated in the bank of Banepali River where we can refresh ourselves observing Newari culture. We can also visit the temple of lord Bishnu. Overnight at Jalbire inclusive BLD.
Day 4 : Trek from Jalbire to Chanaute (1,345m) - 4/5 Hrs Trek After our breakfast, we will head towards Chanaute village. It is easy trek of about 4 to 5 hours. We will pass through some Tamang villages and splendid waterfalls to reach to Chanaute. It is a small village and common home of mostly Brahmin and Chettri. Overnight at tented camp inclusive BLD.
Day 5 : Trek from Chanaute to Khani Gaun (2,010m) - 5/6 Hrs Trek After breakfast, our next trek will be to Khani Gaun. Chanaute-Khnai Gaun is about 5-6 hours walk. The walk is little more challenging and steepy. We have to follow the uphill steeps. But we can have great walk throughout the way as we can see spectacular village and the streams. Khani Gaun is a Newar village and it is believed that during the war between Gorkha and Bhaktapur, natives of Bhakhtapur came here to save their life. Overnight at tented camp inclusive BLD. (Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner).
Day 6 : Khani village exploration day Today after breakfast, we visit Khani village and meet the local peoples and explore around. Overnight at tented camp inclusive full board meals.
Day 7 : Trek from Khani Gaun to Forest Camp (3,150m) - 6/7 Hrs Trek After having breakfast, we will walk uphill steeps through rhododendron forest. It is about 6-7 hours trek. It is a great chance to capture the scenery of the rhododendron forest and you can also see beautiful birds and many wild animals. Overnight inside the tented camp inclusive BLD. (Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner).
Day 8 : Trek from Forest Camp to Pati (3,765m) - 5/6 Hrs Trek The trek today is more struggling as you have to climb upwards for around 4 hours. But the enchanting view of pine and rhododendron forest will be there to make your walk pleasurable. After four hours ascend we reach to Pati and we can do rest on the rest houses built at Pati for pilgrimages. You will enjoy the view of splendid mountains. Stay overnight at tented camp inclusive bed and breakfast.
Day 9 : Trek from Pati to Bhairav Kunda (4,250m) - 3/4 Hrs Trek Our next destination; Bhairav Kund is an about 3 hours walk from Pati. First 1 hour walk goes uphill following further about 2 and half an hour walk. Bhairav Kund is a religious valued place. Many people from different parts of Nepal visit this place to take a holy bath mainly during June/July. The pilgrims also pay their worshipping to the Bhairav (the destructive form of lord Shiva) in the temple found nearby the lake. Stay overnight at tented camp inclusive BLD.
Day10 : Trek from Bhairav Kunda to Sherpa gaun (2,500m), After Sunrise view 6/7 Hrs Trek We have to start our trek little early so that we can have the exciting view of sunrise from Bhairav Kund top. We also can get the sight of shining mountains and mountain ranges namely Langtang, Jugal Himal Range, Rolwalling Range and the Tibetan Range. Furthermore, the typical village situated at 2500 m, Sherpa Gaon is about 6 hours walking from the top. Stay overnight at tented camp inclusive BLD.
Day11 : Trek from Sherpa Gaun to Larcha (1,500m) and visit Hot spring (Kodari Tato pani) - 4/5 Hrs Trek Final day to walk, we leave for Larcha after having our breakfast. Our journey goes through the back of Bhote Khosi. We can reach to Larcha in about 4-5 hours. After reaching to Larcha, we can have a hot spring bath if we walk furthermore 30 minutes, there we can have hot spring bath and have relaxation. Return to Larcha from hot spring. Overnight camping at Larcha.
Day12 : Drive Back to Kathmandu After completing our route and walking for so long, finally we return back to Kathmandu. It is about 6 hour drive back to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel for the refreshment. Stay overnight at hotel inclusive farewell dinner and breakfast.
Day13 : Departure Day After having out last breakfast together, we will drop you to the international airport 3 hours before your flight schedule. We pray for your safe journey back to home.
