Trip Overview

tsum valley trekking
Tsum valley trekking

Tsum valley trekking takes you to the sacred Himalayan pilgrimage valley situated in the trans-Himalayan region behind Mt. Manaslu and set against the majestic backdrop of the Ganesh Himal (7,422m), Sringi HImal (7,187m) and Buddha Himal (6,672m). Tsum comes from the Tibetan word “Tsombo”, which means vivid. Its natural beauty and richness in Tibetan art, culture and religion make it a unique and vivid destination, as its name implies. The local people are mostly of Tibetan origin and speak a unique dialect. Tsum Valley Trekking Trails are strewn with artistic Chortens and lined with mani walls made of thousands of stone slabs carved with deities and prayers. The Tsum valley has a long history of Buddhism. The Buddhist saint Milarepa is believed to have meditated in the caves of their mountains. Due to its remote and near inaccessible location, this sacred valley and its people have been bypassed by mainstream development for centuries. As a result, the unique culture of this valley has remained intact.

Initially Tsum Valley Trekking journey starts from Kathmandu. We will drive from Kathmandu to Aarughat. But our real trekking starts from Aarughat and even ends at Aarughat. Most of the trial goes through the bank of Budi Gandaki River, almost half of the route. Walking beside Budi Gandaki River, the path then takes you through beautiful forest, terraced fields and hilly villages. Going further to Tsum valley, the sketch of village starts to change. Furthermore, the trial goes through alpine forests, glacial rivers and between hospitable peoples. Passing Liding, Machhakhola, Jagat and Philim and some other beautiful villages, we will reach Tsum valley where we can enjoy its beauty. Then after we will follow the same path and return back to Kathmandu. It is a 19 days trek in total.
